I've been plucking out the grays for a few years now, but they've expanded past my roots to spread silvery streaks throughout my hair.
So when I go to a salon, what do I ask for in terms of color? I have black hair and don't want highlights or anything, but I'm not sure if there's anything specific I need to ask for beyond "black color." Any advice? Thanks in advance. |
| Just tell the stylist you want to cover the grey. They do this all the time. |
| Its called "all over color". |
| Don’t do it. Trying to cover grays in black hair is a fool’s errand |
why? If not you end up looking like a skunk. |
| Just grow it out. My wife grew out her gray after literally spending enough on hair coloring to buy a Lexus and she's goddamn gorgeous now. |
You have it backwards. Grays come in gradually and grow the length of your hair. You will never look like a skunk. However, dying gray hair in black hair will result with the black hair being less black over time and more brassy and the gray roots will show immediately, as in a week. Unless you want to be dying your hair black every 2-4 weeks (eventually) and toning frequently, this is a hamster wheel I would not got on. |

+ one million on staying natural
Once you start coloring it is hard to transition back to natural. |
If only all men (and employers) appreciated gray hair like you do. |
| Go to Hair Cuttery a few times for all over color and see how they do it. Pay attention to how they manage fly-aways and color that drips. After that you should be more prepared to do it at home. |
