HELP child at academic camp is locked out of their APS school laptop

Kiddo called completely stressed out because they took their school laptop to an academic camp and are using it to research an assignment due soon. The laptop suddenly restarted and now when the kiddo tries to sign in using their regular APS credentials, the password doesn't work. Does anyone know what's going on?

Did the restart cause them to lose access to their wifi or something?? AAGH HELP. I tried calling APS but it's 7pm in the summer AAAAAAGH

We got an email that they were setting up new laptops to get ready for the fall and our school iPads were going to stop working. They said we'd get access again when school started.

My kid has a laptop already though and not an ipad, so I don't think they would lose access.

AAAAAaaand suddenly they can sign in again! Wut?! I'm relieved but is this going to happen again, what is going on? Sorry for the extra thread here -- if anyone knows whether or not something is up with APS apple laptops (kid is in high school), I would appreciate your info and apologize for the thread here.

Why are you using your child's school laptop for a private camp? Why were you even allowed to keep the laptop over the summer?
