That I know of MS baseball in MCPS was never a thing. I graduated from MCPS in 1994 we had slow-pitch softball for boys but not baseball.

My son (currently HS baseball player), played in middle school softball at his MCPS school. It is generally offered in 7th and 8th grade if there are enough boys interested and the school has a coach. It was great as most of the boys were baseball players and it was purely fun!

I always heard that softball would mess up a baseball swing. You didn't find this to be the case for your kid?

I have heard numerous MoCo parents say this about their precious MS baseball "athletes." What a joke.

PP - didn’t mess up his swing but he IS a BB pitcher and would never pitch in softball.

I was initially disappointed to see that MCPS didn't offer baseball for middle school too. Maybe we'll consider having our kid try out for softball.

Some baseball families believe anything but year round baseball is detrimental
