Rising 6th grader at NBMS

My DS is going to be a 6th grader at North Bethesda MS in the Fall. He has a good group of friends from Elementary School that will also be there. He's a little nervous for all the normal reasons.
I am really nervous because I hate change and middle school is just such an awkward time. What is the environment like? How was your kid's adjustment to middle school? Changing classes, a lot more students, lockers? Do most 6th graders have phones (he will not)? |

What are you looking for folks here to do? You’ve already noted that you don’t like change and MS is obviously a change that comes with all the things you noted: More students, students from different schools, changing classes, lockers, bigger building, phones, etc.
Take a deep breath and just accept that all these changes will occur and it happens every year for tons of students. MS are adept at welcoming in 6th graders and it’s really just the next year of school and development. |
