I know it is an amazing experience for the kids, but I feel for the parents of the championships teams that are wrapping up this weekend. I'm getting emails about next season practices and these folks are still going!
Our mid tier, mediocre, ENCL RL team wrapped up early May and we've been free for literally months. Really learn to appreciate the free weekends after a long season. Boggles the mind that we could still be grinding on |
|
Yea….. we are enjoying the breaks and the weather related super y or whatever its called cancellations.
Its all in ur team/club character. If ur team is practicing now they may mean business…. Or politics and position/roster changes under the guise of practice Enjoy the reprieve I always say season will be here before u know it. And HS soccer and travel will have ur head spinning |
| It's definitely a grind. My son got two weeks off soccer at Christmas and about 3 weeks in July. That's it. Practice starts again next week. |
| Our team started practicing 3x/week as soon as school was out in June. “Just for fun” they said. |
Super awesome summer fun that is completely mandatory even when they say it isn't. If I have to tell a coach I won't be there and why it's mandatory as far as I'm concerned. |

| It's too bad that some coaches don't emphasize the importance of rest for these young players. It's a bit too much at times. Their bodies need to recover. |
| Thats your job as a parent, not the clubs in pay to play youth soccer. These are not real clubs like in other countries where they are in care of your child and take care of them becuase they are an investment ultimately. Develop and sell-on is the model in every country but this one. No incentive to develp just to win, so more people will want to pay into your "club". Look out for your kid and don't let the club dictate rest and recover, its all on you and/or your DC |
So none of the clubs in this area care about development and the sport? |
Can you name any that do? |
|
None! As you get to the higher level and older age groups, these clubs are all about winning and branding.
Take a look at SYC. They promote the crap out of their GA and MSL Next.
|
| you dont have to imagine cause your kid is not on the elite teams. |
What does promoting have anything to do with not giving their players a break. I don't think that they have started playing games or anything. They are promoting their highest offering to draw attention from consumers to consider them in the future if they aren't yet part of the club. |
Agreed, and what a relief! |
Referring to rest and recovery not development. Development is hit or miss but that certainly exsists at any good club and coach combo. Can't just say this club develps, its in combo coach is always fundamental to all this. |
