Yes, they would be too similar to me.

My kids names are something like Alexander and Jane. Very different sounds and syllables, and I still mix them up. I also call them the dog's name. If they were Ellis and Estelle there would be no hope!

Are you going to use Estelle or Stella to refer to her? Ellis and Estelle are too close, Ellis and Stella are not.

A relative's twins are Jack and Jake. We all thought it was ridiculous, essentially the same name but they are young adults now and its fine.
