Soccer Copa America 2024

Copa America 2024 has ended and I’m happy with the champions. Argentina stayed strong and won the well deserved cup despite some issues with this tournament organizers.
What are your thoughts?

The Latin Americans tried to storm the gates just like they do in Latin America

You mean Colombians storm the gates, the opponents, and their families (including toddlers).
Latin Americans are all different.

Messi is done and it is time for him to hang it up. Great way to send him off but I bet he continues on.

Right, don't mistake the Colombians who tried to get into the game with the Argentinians who sang racist songs about a team they didn't play.

The song isn’t meant as racist.
It refers to the fact that the French team has many foreign born naturalized players.

It is racist. Those players are born in France and raised in France, except for Camavinga (who moved to France at the age of 2) and Thuram (who's father was playing in Italy at the time). Are a lot of them children of immigrants, yes. Should those children of immigrants be able to choose who they play for? Yes. It's really not that hard a concept, a lot of people around the world are multinationals.

Is it just a coincidence they choose to target POCs with these chants? It is because McCallister is pretty traditionally Spanish, Messi clearly doesn't have any Italian background, and I'm sure all the Argentinian players can trace back their heritage back 1000s of years to natives? But tell me more about the country with no POCs because they killed them all and then decided to harbor Nazis and fascists after WW2. How many generations must a family have lived in a country for it to be ok with Argentinians? Is it ok that LeBron plays for USA basketball because his ancestors were brought here in chains?

Embid would not pass this Argentinian prejudice test since you pivoted to USA basketball.

McCallister is not Spanish, look at his last name. He descencds from centuries of British naval interactions on the Southern cone. In his case probably Scottish is my educated guess.
