| Hi all - We're looking into daycares in NW DC and hoping that this group can share some recent and candid reviews of Estrellitas - both the DC and Takoma locations. We've done quite a bit of research on Estrellitas in general, so we're really looking for honest feedback from families on their experience with either school in the last couple of years. | I'd join the Takoma Mamas Facebook group and ask there. I know one family that likes it, but I know that doesn't tell you much. Talentos nearby is also bilingual. |

+1 We know two families that really liked Talentos - one has graduated on to school age but the other still has one kid there. Not sure about pricing but they've only had good things to say. |

We just finished our first year at the Takoma location and we have had a really good experience. Our child has developed emerging Spanish language skills and seems joyful daily when arriving at school. More importantly my child seems to be loved and valued by all staff and it is clear. We were really nervous about enrolling there but I’m really thankful we ended up there. Admittedly we are in one of the younger classrooms so we have yet to experience how actual academic instruction looks for the older children. We have complaints, but i think the complaints are universal to other “schools” in the area…specifically a lot of days off in comparison to a day care. |

We’ve been at de colores for 3 years and are so sad to leave this coming year. It’s such a great environment. Caring teachers, low turnover, good communication, lovely classrooms. They go outside a ton and do lots of art and cooking. I have not one complaint. |

| We've had a very positive experience at the DC location. The price increase is a lot, but it was explained as being necessary given the additional education requirements for teachers under DC law. Also, while a lot, compared to similar schools, my sense was that Estrellitas was underpaying their teachers before and this is closer to what the market rate really is in DC for similar quality care and instruction. Agree that there are a lot of days off and communication with admin can be hit or miss, but we've loved all the teachers. |

| Have twins at the DC location. LOVE LOVE LOVE. We are also coming from an unreliable series of Nannies situation so the fact that at least we know when the days off are is a plus. Our kids have learned so much we just had parent teacher conferences and they actually track how well they do at each toy and skill, I was very impressed. And to the point above, they really really care about the kids and the kids love going. |

| Piggybacking on this thread, for current Estrellitas parents at the DC and TKPK locations: what was your experience with waitlist movement? When did you add yourself the waitlist, and when did you get in? Did you have to bother admin to check in on your spot on the waitlist, or was communication pretty good? |

| I just looked up the Takoma location on checkchildcare MD and saw that they lost a 3 year old for 20 minutes in November. Yikes. |
