Parks/outdoor space right outside the District for a family photoshoot

Can anyone suggest a park close to, but outside the DC line for pictures? Montgomery County is preferable but we are open to suggestions. I hear Roosevelt Island is nice. Has anyone ever done a shoot there?

What time of day is good for taking photos at the Arboretum? Good day of the week? I'm a different poster, but I also need to find a location.

FYI, I'm in Fairfax county if anyone has any good location suggestions for Fairfax.

There's always the tea house.. or anywhere else really, at Brookside Gardens. Or there's the McCrillis house in Bethesda.

Cabin John Park is very nice if you want something more natural.

If you want pictures with the river in the background, you could drive down to Old Town to that park that's right next to the river. It's called Oronoco Bay Park.

Second Brookside Gardens. We see folks there on photoshoots all the time. It is also a popular wedding venue. Gorgeous.
