Senior year math for DD with math disability

Anonymous
Which class is more challenging - the second year of 2 year Algebra or Financial Math? DD is in the process of making a decision. She really struggles in math.

Thanks.

I believe Algebra 2 is more challenging.

Algebra is harder

Thank you. She is worried that it will impact her college applications, but she is applying to schools like Towson and hopefully it won’t be an issue (she has a good GPA).

Unless she is applying for competitive STEM courses, she will be fine.

“Struggles with math” is different from a “math disability”.

Yes. My son with a diagnosed disability in math (dyscalculia) made it all the way to Ap Calc BC.

Your kid is struggling and I’m sorry. I assume that these struggles are continuing despite one-on-one tutoring and possibly meds (because ADHD is so often part of the mix)?

I would encourage her to finish algebra and help her with it every night. Algebra is a basic requirement for college, if she doesn’t have it, she’ll close doors for herself.
