Skimmer covers - where to buy/make

Anonymous
Our skimmer covers are falling apart and older than many kids on the team. They are currently plywood and a block of wood. Each opening is a different size, so they were made to size.

What do other teams do to cover the skimmer openings for meets? Google is failing me.

That sounds crazy to me. Every pool I have ever been to since the 80s has had the circular skimmer baskets with the white plastic lids. How old is your pool?! The pools I swam at growing up were built in the 60s and all had what I described. Sounds like you will just need someone to cut plywood or plexiglas to fit each opening.

That's the actual skimmers, but the rectangular openings that draw water into the pool (inlet hole?) need to be covered for swim meets when they are at the end of the lane (start/finish and turn).

We cut kickboards to size and drilled additional holes to let the water flow through. They’re ugly but do the trick. If anyone knows where they could be purchased, we’d be all ears as well.

Just google pool skimmer covers - lots of options, depends on the size, even amazon has them.

We use cut-up old kickboards also. They wedge in place.

That results in covers for the deck side (top) of the skimmers, not the pool wall side where the water flows into the skimmer.

Ours were homemade from pvc sheeting.
