She’s very grumpy and snappy this summer. Not over or under scheduled. Is this hormones or an age thing? A beginning to becoming more an individual? Some days she’s sweet as pie and others she has a hair-trigger with parental annoyance.
Definitely adhd but we’d had that sorted well. Some of it is def less structure than during school year. Please don’t be snarky. My real question is there a big developmental shift between 8-9 and or 3rd 4th grade? |

Early puberty starts around 9 for most girls. You don't expect it then, but that's typical.

Yes, I agree. My 9 almost 10 year old daughter is also a bit of a moody one this summer! She's also had a growth spurt and put on weight so I assume that you know in the next year or two it may be puberty so I don't think it's too unusual to have some mood swings.
I wouldn't get too angry at her about it but she does need guidance to learn how to manage her emotions. |

Yes definitely seeing this with my 9yo and she has had puberty signs for a while, so there are body changes going on as well. We talk a lot about her feelings and make sure she’s getting enough food and sleep.
I got her the American girl books- the care and keeping of you. |
| Thank you. This helps a bunch. |
