right before/after your IVF transfer, what did you do?

any advice? heading into my five day transfer on thursday. i am interested in what you physically and pyschologically did.

i heard sometimes sex is a good idea to prime your body for the natural environment. is that really true?

also, my clinic only gives 5 minutes bedrest after the do the transfer. wow!

Relax. Easier said than done. I don't know if bedrest REALLY is helpful.

don't worry about the bedrest - just take it easy.

I did two IVF cycles (one full and one FET). With the first one I did nothing special, got a BFP and later had a miscarriage. With the second cycle, the FET, I did acupuncture so had an acupuncture session before and after the transfer -- got a BFP that time as well and now have a beautiful one year old. My clinic only had 5 minutes bed rest as well, and the first time I took their advice to drink a lot of water and only made it about 3 minutes before I HAD to get up because my bladder was going to explode. The 2nd time I ignored the advice and only drank about 8 oz of water, so made it the full 5 minutes. Good luck!

With my negative cycle, I didn't do anything special - although I did do modified bed rest that day, per the RE's instructions. The second (positive) cycle, I did acupuncture right before and again, right after the transfer and then modified bed rest the rest of the day.

I did acupuncture the day before ET and then after ET, I took it easy, but strained my back - just a weird pull from I think resting in bed for 24 hours reading. For the next few days I stayed in bed a lot because my back killed (it was a weekend thankfully) and I got pregnant that cycle.

We went to a delicious lunch at Brasserie Beck, then I relaxed at home the rest of the day (it worked). Good luck.

Came home and tucked in on the couch and watched a movie with my dogs.

I rested on the couch and prayed a lot.

I had a Krispy Kreme donut (hey, its right next to the SG Rockville office) and went home to rest

I thought you weren't supposed to have sx.

Ditto on the acupuncture. I went straight to my acupuncturist from the RE's office (against their advice). It helped me to relax post-procedure, and then I spent the rest of the day at home. However, I wouldn't recommend this if you aren't going to an acupuncturist regularly. Having needles stuck into you takes some time to get used to, and can be stressful for people the first couple of times. Do whatever makes you most relaxed. Good luck!
