Is this the hottest July ever here?

Anonymous
Seems like July has had 90s+ temps daily. I've lived here for 12 years and don't recall July being this hot for such a long time. Weather forecast appears to continue to show 90s+, even reaching 100 next week.

Am I just not remembering past summers incorrectly, or is this the hottest July for the past 10 years?

We're being punished for such a lovely May/early June. It's sweltering!

The high was only 81 on July 1. It was a lovely day. It’s been a steady climb since then, but it didn’t go over 90 until July 4. Less than a week ago.

Alternate reality?

Lots of websites that will show you temps throughout past Julys. I’m clicking around wunderground.com right now and it’s pretty interesting. It appears that it’s always been hot in July in DC.

This was forecast months ago. Pay attention. We go to Quebec to avoid it.

Does that article refute anything I wrote?

feels like it to me, OP. But every summer I think "this is the hottest summer yet." We are going to Canada next week for a couple of weeks, thank god. Jealous of people who have a second home somewhere cooler and manage to get out for the entire summer.

That's most of July, plus 2 weeks of June.

The last couple summers have been relatively mild. But I don't think this is unusually hot so much as unusually dry. The summer I moved here (20 years ago) it was easily this hot, but it rained every evening at 5 pm on the dot.

Yes. Last summer in particular just didn’t even ever feel like “summer”. No traditional heatwaves like we typically get.

This summer seems pretty normal, temps wise, but the drought is bad.

Feels hotter to me w heat indexes and warnings of 105-110 with humidity added. I’ve never experienced worse.

Hottest July yet.

Capital Weather Gang had an article about this. This summer is similar to 2010-2012 summers. The last couple summers were really pretty mild for DC. I think of this hot summer as sadly being more typical for the area. I hate it.
