How to find driver/car info from license plate MD

| I was the victim of a hit-and-run but I got the license plate number of the other car. Is there a way to reverse look up the driver and car information in Maryland? I found a MD DOT site but it requires a $95 registration fee. In any case, I'm not sure the license plate is enough info to even use the database. Does anyone have any other suggestions? |

| Just tell the police. They will research it. Or your insurance company. |

You cannot access plate info as a private citizen in Maryland. Haven’t been able to for at least back in the mid-1990’s.
Licensed private investigators with insurance fraud endorsements can access plate databases in some circumstances, but it’s limited. |
