I have a question about follicle size after ovulation. Here's what happened: a few months ago I started meds to correct a hormone imbalance that was preventing me from ovulating. Last month I ovulated on my own for the first time since I was 16 (woo hoo). Unfortunately, BFN.
Now we're on the 2nd month and everything was proceeding as planned. I'm doing a final month of monitoring just to be sure it was working again. I went in for blood work and ultrasound on Friday and had a 14mm follicle. I was told I would most likely ovulate Tuesday-ish of this week. Over the weekend I did OPKs and got negatives. Today I went in for monitoring and the follicle was 12mm and not fully rounded anymore. Also, the lining seems to have changed. The dr. on duty told me that I might be currently in the process of ovulating or might have just ovulated (which she said would account for the smaller and irregular size) but we'd know more later today when my blood work results come back. So, I'm curious to know how fast the follicle shrink after ovulation. Did I miss my window (if I'd know we would have been having more sex ).
Thanks. (Sorry it's so long) |
| they don't always shrink, some follicles turn into corpus luteal cysts which produce progesterone to support pregnancy, the size can vary. |
