Will UC schools remain test blind for upcoming admissions cycle?

Sorry, but I can't find any info on this. Have they made the decision yet?

The UC system looked into whether test scores were useful in college admissions and their own researchers found that it was the single best predictor of college performance. The same committee recommended keeping standardized tests for admissions. The UC regents then went and eliminated standardized tests for admissions. With that history, I seriously doubt UC schools will reinstate testing requirements anytime soon.

Thanks. My understanding is that he current decision was for the last two years. This leaves what they will do for next cycle uncertain. Hopefully they will make a call one way or another in the very near future as rising seniors begin evaluating college lists, informed my admission probabilities affected by whether test scores are considered...

Unfortunately, I don't think the UC schools will ever bring back test scores.

I live in LA. If the UC's were going to reinstate the SAT / ACT scores they'd give more notice. Applications open soon.

It's not on their agenda and it's not part of any open discussions.

Yes. They will be test blind for the foreseeable future. I don’t see it changing.

Yes. The UCs will remain test blind through at least Spring of 2025. See the settlement for Smith vs Regents of UC.

UCs have eliminated test requirements permanently.

I thought they said they were creating their own test…is that dead?

From what I understand they looked into using testing that the state of California already administers and it has the same disparities in scores between racial groups that the SAT does. The problem with creating a new test is that any test that can accurately predict college performance is going to have the same “problems” that the SAT/ACT have.

Didn't they eliminate fully on their own before the whole COVID blip? I wasn't under the impression that test-blind was a temporary decision.
