Nasty virus?

My husband and I both came down with some kind of cold/flu thing that has had us knocked out for more than a week. Fever for 3 days then throat ache that doesn't end. Anyone seen anything like this?

Oh, yes, unfortunately. I had it probably close to a month ago. It took a full two weeks to recover. After the sore throat (that lasted about 9 days, although was tolerable after about 5), came a cough. It wasn't strep. Be careful of it, though. I know one person for whom it turned into bronchitis and another who got pneumonia (really super-high fever).

All i could do was treat symptoms. Gargling with warm salt water helped the sore throat a lot, although only temporarily. I had to do it 5 or 6 times a day.

Yes, mine was about a month ago as well. Started with a wicked sore throat - then had fever/chills/aches for about a week as well. It was awful. There was nothing I could take to make me better - I had to let it play it's course. I have never ever been that sick before.

We just came back from the beach and have all caught this. I caught it first, then my two youngest children, then my oldest, then DH. And guess what? I have it AGAIN. Sore throat, dry nasal passages this time, and a dry, painful cough.
