NVSL team question

If we’re members at 2 pools with a swim and dive team, can we register for Pool A’s swim team and register for Pool B’s dive team?
We would be doing this for social reasons for where our kids have friends.

You can join any dive team you want, for any reason (assuming it’s an open membership pool, not an HOA).
While many pools offer swim teams, fewer offer dive teams. So these pools offer a ‘dive membership,’ or other limited membership for you to pay a small fee to join the dive team.
My girls dive on a dive team with several other kids who 1) swim on another NVSL team or 2) don’t swim at all or 3) don’t belong to any other pools. Gymnasts like to dive.

DP. Understood, but if you belong to two pools, both with swim and dive teams, can you join the swim team at one and the dive team at the other?

This is from the rule book (found on mynvsl.com). It seems to me the part in bold allows one to dive for Team B and swim for Team A.

Article IV – Competitor Eligibility
“An athlete whose Family has a bona fide membership at an NVSL pool, established by the pool bylaws or other governing documents,
shall be eligible to compete for that pool in League activities.
“A. An athlete whose Family has more than one bona fide NVSL pool membership is eligible to swim for only one pool and to dive for only one pool during each season. League Rules Committees may, for good cause shown, grant an exemption to permit a family to swim or dive at a second pool during the current season.

#3 isn't allowed. You have to have a bona fide membership at another club. If that club doesn't have a dive team you can dive at another one (like you said), but you have to have that membership.

“B. An athlete with individual swimming privileges at an NVSL pool,
rather than Family swimming privileges, shall not be eligible to
compete for that pool in League activities.
C. An athlete whose Family membership at an NVSL pool does not
provide dive competition may dive for an NVSL pool that provides
such competition
pursuant to its pool rules for dive team participation.

You may still have to pay the full membership amount at a pool that offers dive. Ours doesn't have a dive only membership

It must depend on the dive team. Only one of our local pools has dive and they let any member of another pool join the dive team for a slightly higher price (I think it's around $50 more)

Thank you! This answers my question.

You’re talking about $50 more than the team fee though, right and not the club membership cost.

OP. Why not swim and dive for one team? Does your pool not have a dive team? Just curious.

It looks like that statement could be interpreted two different ways…

Yes. In our section of the county, there are a half dozen swim teams. Only 1 offers dive, but that pool will allow any member of the local pool onto their dive team for team fee plus a nominal amount. You do not have to join the pool

But as posted above, anyone joining the dive team must have a bona fide membership at and NVSL affiliated pool. I.e. an NVSL dive team can accept a member of another NVSL pool with out a dive team, but cannot take on a member of a country club or commonwealth league pool.

If it meant one couldn’t swim and dive at separate pools wouldn’t it be worded something like, “…swim and dive for one pool”?
