| Do most people know how this is pronounced? |
| No. |
| Kathy? |
| I’d say it Kay-thee. I’d also think the parents were trying to be yooneek. |
|
I haven't done a poll, but I would pronounce this the same way I would pronounce "Kathy." I would then wonder if perhaps this was some ridiculous obscure Irish name, of which there seem many other nicer choices or whether perhaps the parents were just trying to create insane spellings for no good reason.
Or is this a boy's name? Signed, a parent with multiple advanced degrees who writes for a living but has no specific expertise in this area |
| No idea. Like Keith? |
| OP here. It's pronounced Kay-duh but I can see it's going to be a problem. |
| What language is this? |
| Kēth |
| I would pronounce it Keith |
It’s definitely not pronounced that way in English. |
| Kathy |
Sorry, OP. Entirely too complicated and will forever be mispronounced, misspelled and cause confusion. Ask me how I know. Love, Carolynne |
If you want people to say Kay-duh, you’re going to have to spell it Kay-duh. |
