Wheel chair for disability at IAD airport

Anonymous
Dulles airport is huge. I'm traveling with my mom who would has mobility issue. How can I make sure I can get either a wheel chair or a pick up by golf cart for my mom to take her to the gate? I'm reading on United Air info and IAD disability information. It says to arrange it at the airport then it says it must be arrange 48 hours in advance. That doesn't make sense. How do I arrange for a golf cart to get her through inspection and to the gate on time?

The disability assistance request options are in the reservation management page at united.com or on their app. All the airlines have this option in their reservation management pages.

We just did this on United. There is a special services desk behind the main desk for checkin— opposite the bag short cut.

We just showed up and asked for a wheelchair and someone took us all the way from checkin to the gate. (Was not a peak travel time though fyi)
