TJ first week

Anonymous
Can anyone describe the first week of school of freshman year for TJ. How busy would first the weekend be with homework etc.
Is it a bad idea to involve the kid for a family event that would take away the whole of Saturday involving a total of 7 to 8 hours hours of travel.
TIA

Freshman first quarter has been intentionally kept light to help students settle in. Feel free to make plans for evenings and weekends without hesitation. As the year goes on, your student would let you know if they need to dedicate certain late nights and weekends to schoolwork. It varies from student to student, and their individual course selections and after school activities.

Agree with previous poster. Very good advice.

No. You kid will not be that busy the first weekend. First quarter overall is not terribly demanding. But it will ramp up and ramp up fast after that.

Agree with all the rest. You're fine the first week. The heat is only gradually turned up and things really only get cooking by the final few weeks of the first quarter. Just how quickly things start cooking will depend on your kid's teachers.
