Moving during the DCC Choice process

My DD is a rising 8th grader and we are zoned for Einstein. We are currently renting, but thinking about buying in the next year or so, and will likely stay in the DCC area. What happens if we move after November, when the choice forms are due? Does she keep the school she was assigned during the process? If we move into the base area of another DCC school, can she asked to be reassigned, and when?

If you move out of Einstein's cachement area, you take your new lease or deed and a utility bill to the DCC office (may still be in Kemp Mill, it's been a few years since I did this for my child), and they will reassign you to the new school.

Thanks — so you are saying if we move to another DCC HS area while she’s in 8th grade, but after the choice process is over, she can’t keep the choice-assigned school? Or that can choose between keeping it and changing to her new base school?

I don't know the answer to that. Sorry. Because it's a choice program within the DCC, it may be OK to stick with the choice-assigned school. If you call the office listed in the link, they can tell you the answer. Good luck!
