Why is the fed govt open July 5? |
Because July 4 is a holiday.
July 5 is not a holiday. |
And the 6th is a Saturday. What planet does it make sense to secure and open the offices for one day? |
??? You have to work on Friday, get over it. |
Take PTO. |
By this logic the day after Thanksgiving should be a federal holiday.
And every other day when a federal holiday falls on a Tue or Thur. |
Because the federal government only gives federal holidays off. (Unless you work for DHS.)
I won't be there though. Using a vacation day. |
I’m on AWS. |
Sometimes my agency announces an additional day off late in the game when the 4th falls in a Thursday. 30-year Fed here. With a presidential election coming up we have a greater chance. We got a 10% COL raising last month (never happens!). Try to win votes. |
I have fingers crossed they will announce tomorrow or Tuesday. |
We generally get a few hours off the day before (July 3rd). Not an entire day. |
Majority of private companies do shut down. I can’t imagine the federal government will be any less efficient if they close a few extra days. |
The kids are in town for a funeral |
My
Agency gave us the 5th off! |
All the feds I know have an insane amount of vacation time. Why not just use a day? |
