Summer College programs or courses for freshman HS kid

Anonymous
Wondering if anyone knows how to get additional challenging programs for my kid. He is going into 9th grade and the summer program we signed him up this summer at GMU has not challenged him. This is his 3rd year there and he is bored this summer.

Are there any programs we should look into elsewhere? He gets all As, all honors courses. His highest A is in Math (Algebra). However, his interests are in Creative Writing, Movie Script Writing, Law, Politics, History, and Geography. He already has a sport that he is very active in, but I need to look ahead for future enrichment or possible dual enrollment. He can likely handle a college freshman class, but I have looked around and GMU and NOVA do not allow anyone to take a college class who is either not a Junior or Senior or over 18.

Any insight? Thank you

Between 8th and 9th grade is a hard age.

Many summer programs sound great but overpromise and underdeliver.

Given your child's age but advanced capabilities, I would suggest skill acquisition. Given interests, I would focus on video editing and production skills. There may be online classes or self-taught curricula. This can tap into storytelling and scriptwriting inteterests while providing skills to realize creations.

You might also consider a 3D printing camp (tangential suggestion). Also claymation training/courses/camps.
