Perimenopause and super short cycle?

Anonymous
My cycle used to be every 28-30 days until I hit 40, and it shortened to every 25 days or so. I figured this was normal and my doctor agreed. Now I’m 42 and I just got my period today, counted the days and it’s only 20 days since my last one started! Is this normal perimenopause stuff or cause for concern?

Thanks. I figured as much, I just feel like I’m kind of young to really have this much irregularity already. But I guess it can go on for like a decade? My mom didn’t hit menopause until like 53-54.

At 42 my cycle started to sometimes be about 20 days and very light. Then it would bounce to 26 or even 28 days occasionally.

I went on birth control pills for a while and that helped.

But the crazy thing is that I took COQ10 for several months and then needed to switch off of the birth control and my cycle went back to regular every 28 days. I think that the COQ10 helped restore better ovarian function.

In general, I feel young to have started perimenopause, but there it is!

I am 51 and my cycle is now 17-20 days, and it totally sucks!
