This TikToker has created a whole meme around the back cat vs golden retriever archetypes in relationships.
I find it compelling. https://www.tiktok.com/@annakrstna?_t=8nWfcpowhAc&_r=1 What are your thoughts? |

That these so-called memes and archetypes only spread to a small subset of the population, to the point that calling them memes and archetypes is factually wrong.

| Didn’t watch the Tik Tok but the biggest golden retriever guy I know has found a black cat gf and he’s head over heels for her. I think it’s the sweetest thing to see. Opposites attract and all that. |
FTFY. |
Yeah you've missed the point friend. You def need to watch the video. It's not about pets. |
This made me lol. The golden retriever dude PP mentions didn't fall for an actual cat. She is saying he fell for a black cat gf (girlfriend.) 😂😂 |
She's a cat woman. She needs a bat man. |
| Low attachment, high attachment |
No duh I mean his personality type. He is a golden retriever boyfriend: loveably goofy, playful, over-excited, tells bad jokes constantly, fluffy blond hair. She is taciturn and aloof and way more introverted than he. It’s really cute! |
|
My thoughts? This is profoundly stupid.
I'm a writer, so I am a fan of good metaphor, but SM memes/aesthetics/etc are generally trash, and often just a way to hold your attention as you are marketed at. No thanks. |
| She is wise and has a lot of great tips for women |
That’s not the metaphor. As a pp mentioned above— it’s just high attachment and low attachment. The golden is more into the cat. The cat is not that into you. It has nothing to do with personality. “Duh,” as you so condescendingly put it as you proceeded to get it wrong. |

Seriously. I can't even watch the videos (I tried). If it takes this much energy just to get and hold a man's limited attention span, what's it actually worth to me? |
