What to serve at a cookout?

DH wants to have guests over this weekend. Last thing I want to do yet also agree with him that we haven't hosted at our beach house for a bit.

So what to serve? Grilled salmon/steak - what to go with it?

Watermelon, peaches, salad, potatoes, grilled chicken, lots of drinks of various kinds including water, asparagus, tomatoes, etc.

Grilled chicken and salmon. Portobello's for vegetarians.

Roast a bunch of veggies (peppers, onions, squash, mushrooms - I add garlic and a little balsamic) and toss with orzo, lemon, olive oil, herbs.

Platter of fresh tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella drizzled with olive oil and maybe balsamic. If you put this on a bed of arugula you're set with salad.

Fresh bread or chips and guac (which is a bit disjointed, but it's summer, so whatever. You can have sweet potato chips or pita chips with guac if you want).

Man, this post seemed normal at first but upon closer inspection I'm realizing is a real sleeper DCUM hit. Not a flashy one like Cougar Hunting but it has all the trademarks of the trainwrecks I come to DCUM to see!

Let's unpack:

- Completely unnecessary "I have a beach house" drop. How in the world is that relevant or pertinent information for the question asked?

-Raises the classic DCUM question of "How in the world is someone able to hold a job that makes them rich enough to have a beach house while being so dumb they can't plan a simple dinner without running to the internet?"

-Needless dig at the husband for wanting something completely normal and easy

Classic insufferable new money DC folk stuff right here.
