Antibiotics and tww

Anonymous
Well, I have a sinus infection. My brand new CBEFM indicated peak on Friday and Saturday and my little OPK had a smiley face on Thursday and Friday. Did the deed on Tuesday and Friday. I hope it was enough.

Now, I have a sinus infection. Got amoxicillin derivative from CVS minute clinic this morning. Should I take it? I am not worried about birth defects, but I am worried it might mess up implantation or embryo replication.

Any thoughts? Part of me just thinks I'll hold on to it and start taking it at the end of this week.

As a fellow sinus infection sufferer and as someone who has had one in the 2ww, I would take the antibiotic. No doctor here, but the med I have been told to avoid in the 2ww is Advil since it can impact your lining. Antibiotics are routinely given around retrieval and transfer in an IVF cycle, which leads up to implantation. Also, better to get the infection taken care of now than to try and deal with it if this cycle works, as it may only get worse and meds may not help as much.

Treat the infection, that particular antibiotic is okay even for pregnancy....

Take it - it won't interfere with the implantation. I got pregnant while taking an antibiotic. If anything it will help because you will be healthier while on it rather than suffering through an illness.
