I found this service for my elderly parents, who live in New Jersey, that has been unbelievably good. It’s a medical service that does primary care at home by sending out nurse practitioners who work under the supervision of a doctor. The nurse practitioner can order everything at home… People come by to draw blood, give vaccines, and even do a chest x-ray at home! It was getting increasingly difficult for my parents to get to their primary care doctor’s office. They don’t live in assisted-living, but have caregivers come to the house. I had no idea this level of medical care was available at home, and I am mentioning it just in case others did not realize and it would be useful. The practice seems to just specialize in elderly people or the homebound. I can’t remember how I found them but I think I called the local hospital’s hospice program. Is there something like this in DC?
