Affordable vacation ideas between Xmas and New Years

Anonymous
Are there any affordable vacation ideas? We prefer somewhere warm but don't want to pay and arm and leg for it. Anything that fits the bill in the carribean or South America. We're a family of vegetarians, so some vegetarian friendly food would be an added bonus.

Go to Colombia. Get an Airbnb on the beach in Cartagena . Flight and food should be cheap.

What's affordable?

If you can fly on Christmas and NYE, you make be able to save on flights. If you find a condo with a kitchen, you can save on food costs.

We're going to Mexico for the fourth consecutive year, and unfortunately the flight costs keep rising. We're paying about $1000 each, which is tough to accept. But we're staying 16 nights and have a kitchen, so the sting of the flight doesn't hurt as much as it would if we went for a long weekend. And our 2BR/2.5BA condo will comfortably fit five of us and costs less than $400/night, which seems reasonable for a property 20 steps from the beach during winter break. The trip will still cost more than $10k. I think it's a decent value, but that's just my opinion. And this is certainly a luxury and unaffordable to many.

OP: “I’m looking for an affordable one-week vacation.”

DP: “Here’s an itinerary that’s over two weeks long and costs more than $10,000.”

Never change, DCUM.

There are a few great all inclusive resorts on Tierra Bomba, just a short boat ride away. El centro is also great.

State department has a “reconsider travel” advisory right now for Colombia. That would be a no for me.

State Dept warnings are generalizations and sometimes border on fear mongering.

Just don't try to hook up with young hood girls on tinder and you should be fine.
