Lip fillers on a 50+ year old

I’m 52 and my once full lips have become almost non- existstent. I’m thinking about getting a bit of filler just to slightly plump them up, but would that look ridiculous on a woman my age? I know some lip fillers look tacky and ridiculous but is there a way to do it so it looks natural?

I say go for it! I think more women should get them, but only if they have extremely thin lips. The duck pout is a no-go.

I wonder why more (older, usually Caucasian) women don’t get them.

Never too old! If you just go subtle and don’t get too much it will look very natural.

I think because we see how weird it looks on people where it's obvious they HAVE gotten it done and that is very offputting!

Fillers do not last long on the lips. Consider fat trasfer

Are there any concerns about filler aging your lips in the long run? By inserting filler you're stretching the skin, which will inevitably be more wrinkled and saggy once the filler wears off – just like a pregnancy belly, Except youre 50 so the skin won't bounce back. Which means that you would need to use filler constantly to compensate for the fact that filler aged your lips. I would worry about this frankly.

This. Don’t do it OP. It likely would look lovey the first couple/times, but then this ^ happens. Now you have overstretched skin that is more wrinkly and saggy when the filler wears off, making you feel even worse about yourself, so you’ll keep going. And because the skin is getting stretched and you are older, the recoil is not there, and you will need to up the volume of filler and then you get the over puffy lips we all see. Just be happen with your lips as they are. Filler is a a temporary and fleeting appearance improvement in the short term, but will have you looking worse than before starting it in the longer term.

I'm a young person with fillers and this isn't true. I had fillers twice and they stayed that volume after.

For older women, fillers are the only cure for lip lines

Op isn’t young. The “cure” it provides to older women for lip line wrinkles is temporary and makes them worse when it wears off, so they keeping doing it and eventually end up needing more to get same results from all the overstretching

OP, i am 54 and have been getting lip filler for maybe five years. Some fillers are very long-lasting: 1-2 years. I have had zero problems and the amount of filler is quite subtle.

Agree. And her euphemism of “it just wakes up your lips” gave me the ick.
