I've been increasing my rides to 30- 40 miles. I'm finding that even after weeks, I still have to get off my bike for a few minutes every 5-7 miles because it hurts to sit on the seat. I do stand up periodically, have been professionally fitted and wear good shorts. I'm mid 50s. I used to cycle as a teen and don't remember this pain. Help! |
Ever since I had my first child, I can’t sit on a bicycle for more than 15-30 minutes before things are numb or hurt like crazy. I have tried all sorts of seats. |
Try a new seat perhaps. Or you may just need your bike adjusted. Or to see a PT. I have had my stem raised, which helped some of my pain. I also got a new saddle, which helped some; a smaller seat with female-specific cutouts is most comfortable for me. I finally saw a PT that had a focus on cyclists; she watches me ride and then had me adjust how I was sitting by increasing my pelvic tilt and that stopped the pain. |
try different bibs and saddle
It also take time to get used to it |
What kind of bike are you riding? Are you able to balance some weight in upper body so it’s not all on your sits bones? |
You will build calluses. It hurts for about a week. |
