HTS teacher/staff turnover

Anonymous
Current parent in the lower school. It seems like, from what we’ve heard and from what our child has told us, a lot of staff turnover is happening. Can any other parents chime in? I know turnover is to be expected, especially with a change in leadership. But this seems like a lot and we feel very lukewarm (at best) about the current principal.

A 4th grade teacher is leaving for grad school--nothing unusual about that. Have not heard of other teachers leaving.

Very common because often young teachers cut their teeth there, but pay at a Catholic school is low and people then move on.

There are 13 faculty members leaving and you can thank the administration for it. I’ve heard the community is not great right now and the teachers are tired of working for someone who is under qualified and abrasive.

this is what I feared. I’ve heard of several teachers and support staff leaving and I’m very concerned about it. There wasn’t even an email saying goodbye or wishing them well like in the past. I’m a little concerned about the lack of transparency.

So now what? We are all committed at this point; we paid tuition and no refund/no teachers. What a mess. Who is going to address this for parents?

I don’t think there’s anything we can do. Of note, there’s only 4 job postings listed on their website, but the one for lower school teacher seems to imply they need more than one person.

How can we put pressure on someone asap to either let principal go and encourage positive change here on behalf of our kids?

Such a weird post. Everyone I know at HTS thinks the new principal is wonderful and that she has brought positive and desperately needed change. Ironically this year was the first year I felt like the school was transparent at all. Your best bet is to apply out to other schools or go public.

The principal has caused a lot of people to leave. The school is not transparent at all, as an additional three teachers left during the year all stemming from issues with lack of accountability and transparency. It’s really sad what has happened to what use to be a nice community.

There are things you can do. Contact the ADW and file complaints. Talk to the head priest of HTS parish (they are the actual head of the school), reach out to the school board or parents association. These would be the first things I would do, if I was having an issue with my principal at my local parochial school.
