I am willing to have our tax dollars spent on the Secret Service, but when did we all agree to have complete transit routes or beaches shut down for presidents to move around or lay in the sun in Hawaii? I think we've taken the security theater has gone too far. Tens of thousands of people stuck so that someone can drive unimpeded?

The security is not "for an unimpeded drive", it is because there are lousy people who may attack our leaders.

Fix that and there will be no need for the road closures.

This. The “begging for money” (campaign funding) is a Republican-driven issue. They worked for decades to get unimpeded dark money into our elections. Dems were all for the fair and transparent public option, and tried to pass a law overturning Citizens United.
