MS lunch at DHMS?

Parent of rising 6th grader. Just curious how long lunch is (my understanding is the only "recess" is if there is time after lunch)?

Recess is not a middle school thing. At least because of pandemic they are allowed outside during lunch. When we were there when it opened pre pandemic, lunch had to be inside — outside only if your PE did it that day.

Lunch at DHMS this year for 6th graders was 35 minutes, to include occasionally be able to go outside once done eating in that same time block of time. For the first part of the school year, they ate with their TA classmates and could not go outside. PE and health class trade off and on, so they also don't have PE every week. That transition for our active child was very hard. Remember, however, that they do get out earlier in middle school, so it helped to encourage our child to take his time coming home and socialize with friends a bit. There's also a lot of clubs and that sort of after school stuff, with a smattering of non-try out, outdoor sports here and there during the year.
