Opinions about cheese in pasta salad

Anonymous
I need to make a vegetarian pasta salad, but forgot to pick up fresh mozzarella (my go-to cheese for pasta salads). Can I sub cubbed cheddar or is this weird? I worry about the dressing affecting the texture of cheddar. Is it better to add cheddar or just leave out the cheese?

Think it would be better without

I like feta in some pasta salads but would not do cheddar.

What pasta salad is it? Cheeses are not interchangeable.

Agree that feta and mozzarella are better options. Unmelted cheddar in pasta is gross.

TJ's unexpected cheddar shreds or crumbled would be OK because it's white and so similar to parm. But I'd sub out beans for a protein.

Def no to cheddar. Can you pick up a package of little fresh mozzarella balls on the way to where you are going and dump them in when you get there?

I like Monterrey jack and regular block mozzarella. Cheddar in most pasta salads would not be my ideal.

No cheese in any salad unless it's caprese.

Or Greek.

I think it depends on the type of dressing you’re using and what the other ingredients are. Cheddar doesn’t belong in most pasta salads, but I wouldn’t rule it out completely without knowing what else is in the salad.

Cheddar chunks are fine. Not the same but whatever. It’s ok to pick up one thing at the store too.
