Italian hotel bread

Anonymous
I stayed in an Italian hotel last week and breakfast had rolls as an option. I know I should know the broad name for this kind of bread but I can’t think of it. They were risen and had a very plain flavor, but I really enjoyed them as a breakfast option and would like to make them myself at home. Searching “Italian bread” is obviously yielding any helpful answers.

Yeast roll?

Brötchen? That’s the word in German but maybe Italian rolls are similar. In Germany you pick up a bag of these at the bakery every morning.

Were they crusty or soft? What shape? Maybe ciabatta?

They were round and had a soft crust; they were also available in a five “petaled” shape. They weren’t ciabatta. They were much closer to an American dinner roll than to a sturdy pane.

These might be close! The ones I had were less browned but think that can be altered a little.
