Living faith for teens

Anonymous
My teen boy is interested in growing in faith with God and particularly living out their faith through service and character growth. We are open to Christian and Jewish groups to join. Live near Tysons. Any high school groups you recommend?

Are you religious, OP?
Please beware of "exciting opportunities" than they end up preying on impressionable youth. Being Christian or Jewish or Muslim or Buddhist or any of the mainstream religions is not a bad thing. You just need to know what you're getting your family into.

Well, first he should probably figure out if he's a Christian or not, that's a pretty big difference.

Join a volunteer organization for service and character, not a church. What are his skills and interests and concerns about the world?

Defamatory. Negative. Unhelpful.

When you say “interested in growing in faith with God and particularly living out their faith,” that sort of presupposes an existing belief system, e.g., Christianity, Judaism, “other.” If you’re not affiliated with a particular faith community, the first step might be to try locating one. Most churches have youth and service related activities. As PP’s noted, there are also non-faith based service groups and activities.
