Kid took first AP test this year. So I have no frame of reference. I think they said July. I’m assuming this is because the tests are done at different times across the country. I assume APs are done by the end of May but I know nothing. If so, it seems odd with all the tech that it takes so long to process. |
Scores are scheduled to be released in early July (the 8th, IIRC).
It takes a while because only the MCQs are scored by computer. All free response sections are read and scored by trained teachers during a two week period in early June, after all late/make up exams have been administered. The section scores have to then be combined, cut scores for each exam determined so final scores can be assigned, etc. |
The grading schedule is different for each subject. Grading for Calculus has just started. Will take us about 7-10 days to grade all FRQs, then scores are combined and cut scores are determined. Scores are released at the end of first week of July. |
The grading of these exams is a beast. Teachers sit at tables and grade a single question over and over for a week straight. Multiple teachers put eyes on each test—if the scores match, it stands, if they differ it goes to yet a third teacher. Therefor your child’s FRQ portion is graded by a minimum of 12 teachers in my subject (there are 6 FRQs). It takes a long time. |
