We live in the BCC area with a baby and a preschooler. We will probably move (within the area) in the next year or two.
Are any local public elementary schools known for less screen time? Any known for more? We would love for our kids to have as few screens as possible at school - just a good classroom environment and paper-based learning (or play, or blackboard, or whatever - just not screens). |
MCPS is a one-size-fits-all all approach. Screens are used in all schools. |

Its principal dependent on some level so it can change with administration change.
We are in Silver Spring and i was so happy my kid only used their chromebook for testing in K and 1st. Its been a lot more in 2nd during class but they still didn't bring it home all year. |
Pp here. Blackboards are smartboards now anyway and there are slide decks and videos. Im more concerned about individual screens |
+1 this if you want to avoid screens, look at the Waldorf school. They only use pencils and paper / read paper books / etc. |
