HS transcript grades- quarter or semester?

Anonymous
My 10th grader got all As 3rd quarter, but will end up with several Bs this quarter. She tells me that it won't affect her GPA, and that the semester grade for her transcript will be an A. Is that correct? I tried searching on this forum but there were so many results buried in different threads that I wasn't clear, and I guess I was looking for an MCPS link that I couldn't find. Thank you!

Yes that's how mcps does grade inflation.

If she got an A in third quarter and a B in fourth quarter, the semester grade will be an A. MCPS averages the grades and rounds up.

Did she take Bio? MISA will also impact her grade.

OP said she was in 10th grade; this year's MISA will affect current 9th graders only.

Yes, semester grades only on transcript. Here is the MCPS chart:

Students that are only focused about finishing high school love this system. If you can get a C third quarter, you have automatically passed that class and don't need to show up 4th quarter. It's a great way to lower class size!

I am glad they care enough about graduating, rather than dropping out.
