Are any of these in oral form? I am looking for just the very smallest dose.
I am kept hyperthyroid for medical reasons and am starving all the time. typically I have quite good appetite control but lately it's like I'm a voracious predator at all times. I don't want to totally lose my appetite but anything that takes the edge off I can do the rest myself. |
IDK about any of the medical stuff, no comment on the appropriateness of the drug for you.
But I will say that if you’re worried about the injections, you get used to it really fast. When I had GD I had to inject insulin and I was totally freaked out. After like a week I didn’t think twice. |
op - i dont really care about injections per se. I just dont want or need to completely not want to eat. so ideally something a little less aggressive would be perfect. |
Metformin is an oral pill - it’s dirt cheap too even if insurance doesn’t cover.

Metformin killed my painful hunger pangs. It was great. Haven't lost weight really. Although I think I have some body recomp going on. But overall no extreme hunger pangs and no shakiness from low blood sugar. |
omg that sounds AMAZING. I truly think i could lose weight if i just had some help with this insane hyperthyroid hunger. i just can't cope with having a crippling need to demolish everything in sight that continues pretty much all day every day. |
"I am kept hyperthyroid for medical reasons and am starving all the time." Why? How low is your TSH? |
Yes, Rybelsus is oral semaglutide. Not sure why you think that would suit your needs better though?
You'd be much better off with Ozempic because you can customize the dose to as little as you want with its pen mechanism, down to a tiny fraction of a dose. |
bc i had thyroid cancer so after you have your thyroid removed they keep you suppressed so it doesn't come back. |
oh and 0.04 |
I am getting the sense you are not a doctor and have not spoken to one about this. |
I mean, what's your A1C? That's why you take these medicines. |
Of course I’m not a doctor. Why would a doctor post this q on dcum? |
It is amazing. I tried dieting by myself for six months and the hunger was insane. So I lost self control in stressful situations. Metformin helped that. I only took it for three weeks and now don't need it. I get normal hunger now. And no weak shaky feelings. I am not sure why. I am eating much more healthfully and exercising. Even if I have barely lost any weight. But metformin was the kick-off I needed to get back into better habits. A long way of saying, you may not need it long term. It might be a good aid to start with. And it worked with the lowest dose for me. Immediately. |
I'm the PP who has taken metformin. It is prescribed off label for weight loss. Especially weight loss related to insulin resistance that may not necessarily reach the level of pre diabetes. My A1C is below pre diabetes stage but not by much. |
