| I am a teacher and parent of PGCPS. For various reasons, I am looking at private schools within PG county. I honestly have no true requirements other than strong academics and parental involvement. I am open to distance, tuition, hours, demographics, etc. I just don’t understand where people send their kids when they say send them to a PG private school. How do you assess that the academics are strong there if they don’t necessarily follow the same standards as PGCPS? Thanks! |

Why does the school have to be in Prince George’s proper?
We considered: Sandy Spring Burke Academy of Holy Cross St. John’s There is also: DeMatha Friends Community School St Jerome’s, if you are Catholic Seton Bishop McNamara |
Boys, rising 1st and rising fourth graders |
I guess it does not have to be in PG to be honest with you. I appreciate your recommendations! |

Depending on where you work, you could consider the Annapolis area schools.
Key school Indian creek St Andrew’s (methodist) St Anne’s (episcopal) St Mary’s (Catholic) As for assessing academics, that takes some effort - ask for curriculum info, check out the math paths, look at the work on the walls, etc |
| St. Pius, Grace Christian in Bowie, and Holy Trinity are all within about 10 minutes of one another. |

School of the Incarnation is near Crofton.
Best resource is talking to parents of current and/or students who recently graduated. Ask them what high schools they’re attending, special programs, scholarships, etc. |
| I know several people very happy with Holy Redeemer in College park. |
Indian Creek in Crownsville |
| My kids (in NE DC) have met kids through summer camps and sports who go to Friends Community School in College Park. |
| Edified Christian Academy in Landover is definitely worth a look. |
| School of the Incarceration in Crofton. We started last year and have had a great experience. |

Where in PG? Fort Washington very far from college park. We were in Bowie and it’s really one big reason we moved — we just couldn’t bear to drive our kids to AA and then commute into DC. Our neighbors all did religious school. We might have done St Pius but weren’t really psyched about it and felt like we wouldn’t have a great option for HS.
If your spouse has the capacity to drive kids out/up to someplace like sandy spring or bishop McNamara, that opens up more options. |
