Mexican Restaurant Serving New Mexican Green Chile Sauce Dishes

Any suggestions for places not too far from Bethesda or Northwest D.C.? I've been away from Santa Fe for too long!

This is so hard to find in DC but the closest thing 😕 be found is Chuy's, which is a chain that serves real Hatch green chili dishes. There aren't any in Maryland but there are a couple not too far in Virginia.

I've been to Anita's also, which bills itself as New Amex can food but the green chili was wrong and they didn't have certain dishes I consider required, like chimichangas.

Also when Mitsitam reopens at the American Indian Museum they will hopefully bring back their Indian taco. They do it with Buffalo chili instead of green chili, but it's served on fry bread and otherwise correct.

God I miss New Mexican food.

It's not New Mexican food. If it were actually in New Mexico people would be like wtf don't go there.

I'd love to hit up Rancho de Chimayo or like some hole in the wall in Las Cruces or Farmington or something, but I'd happily settle for an outpost of Garduños. Christmas everything.

I knew Anita’s would be the suggestion but it’s truly terrible. I’ve tried so many times over the years because I love New Mexico green chile but Anita’s is just bad.
