Kid activities in my UMC area are so expensive

Our soccer program is $800 a semester for 6 year olds. It’s on crappy grass fields and very subpar coaching. The uniform kit is $250. I think because our area is UMC we pay stupid prices. And it’s the league everyone from his public elementary does.

He’s six. Is it really a league or just playing amongst themselves with games. Either way it’s just a bunch of six year olds bunching together trying to kick a ball. Uniforms for $250 at this age is just plain dumb. Money racket.

Just drive your kids over to the nearest field with a Hispanic community after work where they really know how to play soccer and hopefully get some free Spanish immersion as well.

That’s crazy. Have you considered that your area is wealthy not UMC? I keep thinking of this study I saw several years ago about how everyone thinks they’re middle class

PPA is what? $250 for 2 months of soccer with one practice and one game a week. Maybe you can do that for your 6 year old

Where are you? Great Falls/Reston League is Under $250 for a season. we have to buy the uniform but that was $80 and he has worn the same jersey and shorts for 2 years now. I believe the Herndon League is the same price. The kids play on grass and synthetic fields.

Look around for other programs in your area, I would guess you are on a pre-travel team that is more expensive but I would be surprised to hear of a rec team costing that much.

You don't have to send them to the best soccer clubs. MSI is $120 for spring.

Rec softball is $150/season including the jersey. We have an equipment loaner program.

It’s as expensive as you choose to make it OP.

My kids sport for 8u registration was $2500. Not including jerseys, socks, or team fees. Practices are only twice a week and games on Saturday and Sunday often out of state. Kids sports is a huge money grab. It's kind of disgusting. In other areas around the country it's significantly cheaper.
