Renovating a condo and working with architect on decor. Appreciate recs for higher end primary BR bed/nightstands.
Looking to maximize space. All else is built in so just the table and nightstands. TIA. |
| I don’t understand the question. Beds have standard dimensions. The nightstands could be anything from a tiny shelf on the wall to a dresser. You just need to know the dimensions of the space you have. Or do you want like a bed with storage of some kind? |
| You're working with an architect on decor? Do you mean a designer? |
Sorry, the architect and designer work in the same shop. |
Yes, beds for US market have standard dimensions so that’s why IKEA sheets can be so confounding. Looking for suggestions of high end furniture designers folks like. Not Room/Board, Crate/Barrrel, etc. |
| I still don’t understand what you are looking for. |
Do you sleep on a cot? |
Baker, Holly Hunt, Hickory Chair? This is what your designer is for. |
Yeah, I don’t understand if you have a designer why you need furniture recs? To provide as examples? Also, what is your style? Traditional, contemporary, transitional (what type), etc. |
I want to look at some options before meeting. Sometimes I’m more successful by ruling out what I don’t like. Can you suggest a place to look for these definitions? Thanks. |
| Hire a decorator, sweetheart. |
See 22:19 about why I’m asking. I want to look at some styles BEFORE the meeting. |

https://www.indoorfurnitureusa.com/product/classica-bed/ and the matching night stands-- there are ones with curved top (extra counter space) or no curved top.

I'm not sure what exactly you consider high end.
Hardwood Artisans has some nice stuff, but I don't know if that's fancy enough for you. Some of it is kind of country looking, but not all of it. For end tables, unless you want a matching look, I might just want to go vintage/antique. There are tons of beautiful end tables at the vintage/antique stores -- this is one of those things that holds up well. I'd also recommend Ethan Allen for beds. Ours is really solid and well made with beautiful wood. I think a lot of designers just like a custom upholstered headboard. Depending on whether you think you can keep that clean, that can look great. Something like that in a cool fabric with two vintage/antique end tables could be a really unique, custom look. But it all depends on what you like. |
Yes, I have found the internet to be a very helpful place full of pictures and definitions. Lol. But seriously, traditional is supposedly more classic/timeless in nature. Transitional is combining 2 different styles (like vintage and modern). I struggle with contemporary vs modern but think of contemporary as being current (not helpful I know). Modern is a little more minimalist/avant-garde. I obviously didn’t use the internet very well in the definitions but you get the idea. This lady has a lot of traditional/new traditional books you might be interested in (plus the video home tours are fun): https://thepottedboxwood.com/category/books/ |
