He'd love to turn DC in to Seattle or San Fran. A liberal city but with less African Americans. He is the face of "The Plan" |
Right. Fenty is a self-loathing Black.
Truth is that Gray is the one feigning a hatred a Whites -- hoping nothing too bad will come of the charade. Yet it already has, and he must bear responsibility for his actions. |
In my opinion, both campaigns are cynically and recklessly playing the race card. Both see political advantage it in. I am quite sure that the only color that matters to Fenty is not white or black, but green (and the more zeros the better). No wonder that's his campaign color. Gray is probably no different.
|
Gray is indeed different in that, from the outset, his entire campaign has been based on waging a race and class war. Now he's got one. Congratulations, Chairman Gray. You are a wonderful public servant. DC has long bee in need of someone in a position of authority to stir the pot of racial division in this town.
He deserves a blow job. On the house. |
Why is Gray the one accused of waging a race and a class war? There was already one being waged. Gray just brought it to the forefront.
This would be the equivalent of saying a firefighter started a war by throwing water on a fire. Perhaps he began the battle, but the fire was already waging. I applaud Gray for bringing these issues to the forefront. Whether or not he is truly sincere about them is another issue, but I don't think it's fair to say HE is the one waging the war when the divisions between races and classes in this city (and in general in our society) were already there and tense and exacerbated quietly by the previous administration. |
Why is it that every time a successful person with one or more African American parents tries to use the freedom that our ancestors paid for in blood -- the freedom to speak his mind, to be critical, to refuse to accept mediocrity in the name of racial solidarity -- he is immediately branded a self-hater? |
Fenty doesn't hate on African-Americans. Look what he is trying to do with Ron Moten:

I am so over Fenty (voted for him last time around but not this time!) but I think it's not fair and not true to say he doesn't like African Americans. |
I did not vote for Fenty last time, but I agree with the writer. I think it's BS to claim that either of these guys has a hang-up about race. You can read racial implications into any discussion that involves economic status, but I think it's harmful and unnecessary to do so. |
Here is more on how Fenty loves African-Americans:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/08/13/AR2010081304768.html I think the Washington Post must be feeling bad about the endorsement they rolled out last week. |
Are you seriously looking for objectivity on DCUM? When you find it, please let us know. |
Specifics please? Or by "race war" did you mean "growth of the DC middle-class"? |
Fenty is half white and 40 years old. He is "post-racial". I really think he wants to the ongoing DC race and class war to go away. Problem is he can't ignore it. |
This is just too rich...
