Birthday poster here. Curious of how many people travel that weekend.
FWIW we haven’t ever been able to coordinate a good getaway that weekend so I have actually never traveled LDW. It’s on my one day list but where or how do you usually make to work without missing school? Or do you take the kids out early on that Friday? |
Yes shit |
We don't. It's usually the first weekend of school in MCPS, and we take a vacation the week before school starts, so we just use it to relax at home.
Yup we usually do a quick beach trip leaving early Saturday morning and returning early Monday morning or late Monday night. (Yes, the Monday traffic sucks but we still enjoy it.)
We camp, starting Friday afternoon.
We travel every Labor Day. Arlington doesn’t have school the Friday before Labor Day. We rent a beach house and drive Thursday as soon as school gets out - we come back Monday afternoon. We’re in NoVa and we’ve been to Avalon, NJ, Lewes, DE, Ocean City, MD, and Cape Charles, VA. This year we’re going to Sandbridge, VA.
We usually don’t. After the first full week of school, we need to recharge and rest more than we need anything else.
Yes, every year.
We don't always but sometimes we leave after school and work Friday and stay within 2-4 hours. This year we're staying in a PA state park cabin and maybe making a day trip in to Pittsburgh.
We go away. It’s the best time because it’s not busy.
School is out Friday and Monday. We have flown to Florida a few times which is a nice trip, or have driven to see nearby family. But not every year.
We don’t have to put kids out because it’s a super long weekend. Don’t they normally already have off that Friday the past few years? Anyway, while we don’t always go out of town, we do typically have soccer or baseball tournaments that weekend.
+1 |
Thanks PPs. Our county does not have Friday off fwiw. So it’s a full day Friday.
No I don’t, DCPS is already in session and I’m not interested in sitting in traffic. Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends are usually spent at the pool, hiking, and grilling with our neighbors. Nice and chill.
