Our Jeep is ready for the graveyard. 2 kids 8 & 1, might have a 3rd someday and DH would like to be able to carpool. Not interested in another Jeep.
I love the Chevy Traverse, but it is slim pickings in our budget. Looking for a car that could last 7-10 years. Thoughts on the following: Dodge Journey GMC Acadia Kia Sorrento Kia Seltos (not sure if it has a 3rd row) |
|
Kia Seltos doesn't have a third row.
I don't think you can get a new, 3 row SUV for under $25K. I think Kia is pretty good. Mine is 11 years old and didn't really have issues until this year. But, I was annoyed by all the recall issues. |

The Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave are pretty much same SUV.
I would focus those three the best one you can get used for 25k I have a 2012 Acadia as our primary driver and I kept it as we still do the college pick ups and drop offs and need the room. I still drive it round trip to NYC and Boston without issues. Yes it had glitches over years with minor things but nothing big |

Subaru Forester CPO.
You can get one of their nicer trim lines (Sport or Limited) for around $25-27K with under 30K miles. You'll need to expand the search to the surrounding states, but you can get it if you're willing to drive. |

I would not go with Kia. I'm not sure I would go with a Traverse, either. And the Dodge Journey gets poor reviews.
If SUV, try Honda Pilot, Acura MDX, Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander. Go back a few years until you get to around $25K. If the Acura MDX is nearing 100K miles or has 100K miles, look for one that has had the timing belt changed already, or try to negotiate that in the price. All of these cars should be able to do over 200K miles if well maintained. |
| Why aren't upu looking for a miivan? |
|
At $25k I wouldn’t be looking for a third row. Get a new or slightly used Hyundai Tucson.
3 row SUVs and minivans at that price point are going to have crazy high mileage. It’s not a good decision. |
